The electric fence operates with electric current. The black grounding cable connects the grounding rods and the energizer. The red cable connects the fence and the energizer. Finally, the battery cables connect the energizer to the battery, which provides the power supply. The current passes through the energizer, through the fence, and through the grounding rods (the earth is used to complete the circuit).

The electric fence energizer converts the incoming power from a 12V battery or solar panel into a high-voltage pulse. The energizer sends this pulse through an insulated line made of rope, tape, wire, netting, or another type of conductor with specific characteristics. This happens once every second, or depending on the model, it can be adjusted. The pulse itself lasts 150 microseconds.

This pulse is commonly referred to as a “shock pulse,” which is what the animal feels when it touches the electric fence enclosure. The diagram shows the movement of the pulse through the system. The pulse starts from the electric fence energizer, passes through the rope, and enters the animal that has touched it. The pulse passes through the animal and into the ground. From there, it returns to the energizer through the grounding rod.

Think of the electric fence more as a psychological barrier than a physical one. The pain felt by the animal is instant and does not physically harm it, unlike barbed wire fences or other types of enclosures.

Low investment cost- the electric fence requires very few materials and little labor compared to a standard fence. Not to mention the need for a shepherd!

Long service life- it can be used for many years with proper operation.

Easy installation- relatively few and, most importantly, lightweight components.

Universal- can be used for all types of animals, both domestic and wild.

Extends the life of an existing deteriorating fence- if you place one or two rows in front of it, you can continue using it for a long time without worrying that the animals will further damage it.

Minimal maintenance- requires virtually no maintenance! It only needs occasional checks to ensure it is functioning properly. If you install a remote monitoring device, even this task is eliminated.
