The electric fence operates on electricity. The black grounding cable connects the grounding rods and the energizer. The red cable connects the fence and the energizer. Finally, the battery cables connect the energizer to the battery, which provides the power supply. The current passes through the energizer, through the fence, and through the grounding rods (the earth is used to close the circuit).

The energizer converts incoming power from a 12V battery or from a solar panel into a high-voltage pulse. It sends this pulse through an insulated line made of rope, tape, wire, mesh, or other conductive materials with specific characteristics. This happens once every second, or depending on the model it can be adjusted. The pulse itself lasts 150 microseconds.

This pulse is commonly referred to as a “shock pulse,” and it is what the animal feels when it touches the electric fence. The diagram shows the movement of the pulse through the system. The pulse starts from the energizer, passes through the fence wire, enters the animal that has touched it, then goes into the ground, and returns to the energizer through the grounding rod.

Think of the electric fence more as a psychological barrier than a physical one. The sensation is instant and does not physically harm the animal, unlike barbed wire or other types of fencing.

Universal - suitable for all types of animals, both domestic and wild.

Extends the life of an already deteriorating fence - installing one or two electrified lines in front of it can help preserve it for longer use.

Minimal maintenance - no maintenance required. It only needs occasional checking to ensure it is functioning properly. If remote monitoring is installed, even this is eliminated.
